3 Time National Winners

The Rice Choir program has 285 students divided into six class periods.  Many of these students are also enrolled in private voice lessons.  All choirs consistently earn UIL Sweepstakes awards.  Last year, 50 students earned a spot in the All-Region Choir and 150 Rice singers participated in Solo and Ensemble contest.  In 2018, the Rice Middle School Tenor Bass Choir was invited to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association State Convention in San Antonio for thousands of music educators from across the state of Texas.  Rice Choir has also been NATIONALLY recognized!  The Rice Tenor Bass Choir AND the Rice Varsity Treble Choir were both chosen as Mark of Excellence National Winners by the Foundation for Music Education in 2016, 2017, and 2020!
